I visited the Etowah Indian Mounds about three weeks ago.
The Indian Mounds are located about 50 miles south of Chattanooga in Cartersville, Georgia. They date back over 1,000 years and were created by the Mississippi Moundbuilders. Info can be found at the Etowah Indian Mounds site.

It is a beautiful town. I enjoyed the fact that much of it still looks like it must have 50 years ago. Unfortunately, almost everything closes at 2:00 on Saturday afternoons. I will have to visit the shops another time. I hear the 4 way stop hamburger place is really good.
