United Nations New York

The following are a few pictures that I took on my visit to the UN in New York. The concept of the UN has been peace, however since nearly every nation is a member, there are quite a few instances of members fighting each other. Each nation has contributed art to the building. Many of the pictures have an apocalyptic view (like the one in the general assembly room) of the future that you would expect to be absent in favor of a message of piece. There are also displays of the ravages of war like the Japanese atomic relics, and past extravagances like the sculpture made of ivory. I guess it all adds up. Peace, War, Excesses, and Warnings. If only every nation would be thankful for what they have and give to those who have less. There would be no need for those with less to try to force more. If we can't give peace a chance perhaps we can give greed a rest.
